Let an experienced guide lead you as you embark on the challenging but unique experience of an ice bath. Discover the power of water and strengthen your body and mind in the heart of Drenthe's natural surroundings.

The method is becoming increasingly widespread in society. In winter, we are seeing more and more people swimming in outdoor waters, including here in the swimming lake at BuitenLand. Medical and scientific studies have shown that the Wim Hof method has a significant impact on strengthening overall health and improving a number of specific health complaints.

During the training, we will work on:

  • Breathing techniques
  • Brain control, influencing physiological processes
  • Cold training/ice bath
  • Generating heat in a natural way

Yoga

At BuitenLand, there is a daily yoga session among the trees in the yoga stretch tent. The teachers are all very experienced and rotate throughout the season. The classes are accessible to everyone, so you can experience your first yoga class here. We also regularly offer acro yoga, wobble yoga, or children's yoga.

During the holidays, daily from 10:00 to 11:00. During the quiet midweeks of May, June, and September, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 09:00 to 10:00.

Massages

Pamper yourself during your stay at BuitenLand with a blissful massage from one of our experienced masseurs. Throughout the season, we have various specialists who are fully committed to loosening up your muscles and relieving tension in your mind and body. Relax and enjoy a well-deserved treatment, because your well-being is our priority. You can find the massage tent at the edge of the forest to the left of the grounds. All you need to bring is yourself.

Sauna

Find yourself in our wood-fired sauna. Swimwear optional, the choice is yours. The sauna is located behind the stage on the left, in a sheltered spot among the trees. Cool off under the outdoor shower by the tree. It is possible to hire the sauna for private use, or you are welcome to visit during the open evenings.

Bugtub

Bathe in style in the old red Beetle. It comfortably seats four adults or a whole bunch of children. The bugtub can be hired privately, or you can jump in during the open bugtub hours. Make your reservation here now, or check the calendar for the open hours!

Sweat lodge

Enjoy a profound experience in our authentic sweat lodge, surrounded by the forest next to BuitenLand. Let the warm glow of the stones cleanse you while inspiring your body and mind. The sweat lodge is an ancient ritual for inner cleansing and renewal. From the darkness and silence, you will come into contact with your own wisdom and experience a deep unity with the earth and the power of nature.

How does it work?
During a sweat lodge session, you sit together with about 8-12 people in a low hut made of willow branches and covered with woollen blankets. After the stones have been heated long enough until they glow red, they are brought inside in four rounds.

When the door closes, the ceremony leader will pour water over the stones and take you on a journey through ancient traditions and rituals, based on silence, sharing and conscious breathing. You may go outside between rounds.

Breath session

A Conscious Connected Breathing Session takes you deep inside yourself and shines light on what needs to be seen. A breathing session is enlightening, revitalising, detoxifying and helps you get to know yourself better. What is sometimes difficult to achieve in conversation is often possible with this breathing technique. Conscious connected breathing is a great way to quickly and purposefully get in touch with your feelings, experience them fully and let them go. You can free yourself from fears, obstacles, negative beliefs and memories from the past. This creates space in your head and deepens your friendship with yourself.

Practical information
The session lasts 2 to 2½ hours, during which you will breathe connectedly to music for about an hour while lying comfortably on a soft mattress with a pillow and blanket. You will be guided by experienced breathing coaches who will ensure that you feel supported and cared for. The breathing coaches are trained at the Breath and Awareness Academy.
