At BuitenLand, there is space to let loose and to turn inward. We love silence and exuberance. During the week, it is wonderfully quiet and we offer low-key activities. In winter, deer sneak around your cottage. During the holidays, we create a nice balance and slowly settle into the same rhythm together. The BuitenBar is the beating heart of BuitenLand; the place where you read the newspaper, play a game, retreat with your laptop, but above all the place where you meet and embrace each other. We organise activities on a regular basis: singer-songwriters and bands on stage, musical chairs for adults.
Here, you can let go for a moment. While digging your bare feet deep into the sand, you sip a hot cup of coffee and watch your children attempt to dig a tunnel to Australia.
At BuitenLand, you can still build old-fashioned bonfires. Behind the stage is a communal area, and you'll find new friends gathered around small fires all over the fields.
Find yourself in our wood-fired sauna. Swimwear optional, the choice is yours. The sauna is located behind the stage on the left, in a sheltered spot among the trees. Cool off under the outdoor shower by the tree! You can reserve it privately or drop in during the open sauna hours.
Fancy a dip in this eye-catcher? Reserve it for your children or your loved one, and we will be happy to heat up the stove for you. Or take a dip during the open bugtub hours.
On the all-in-one sports field, the players look more like newborn giraffes than Messi and Ronaldo. It's organised chaos that even the birds often watch in confusion. Experienced or not, everyone is welcome.
You'll get your first flying lessons at the skate park. Or maybe your first kiss, with your legs dangling over the edge and your head reaching up into the trees.
With your feet in the sand and the rustling trees in the background, our beach in Drenthe is a wonderful place to relax. At the front, the shore slopes very gradually, allowing the little ones to play safely, while at the back you can dive off the jetties because the water is 5 metres deep there!
On warm days, Jan and Joke open their cosy little bar, full of chips, inflatable animals and sweet sweets.
Our swimming pool is usually open for swimming from Ascension Day onwards. But sometimes it serves as an exhibition space or a place where stories are told. Other times, the pool fills with little mermaids, and a quiet hour for adults with classical music is also a recurring ritual.
With your bat, you're not going to bed anytime soon is the motto of ping pong at BuitenLand. Prepare for sand between your toes, because here you can enjoy a game on our table tennis table or beach volleyball court.

Children experience BuitenLand in their own unique way. The freedom they often don't have at home is a given here. Sometimes a mud puddle is the highlight of the day, or maybe it's the enormous soap bubbles dancing through the playground? A stray toddler is lovingly brought back. Together, we form a village around our youngest visitors, so they can be themselves to their heart's content.
