Most beautiful walking routes
There is plenty to discover for walkers and nature lovers around Buitenland. Walk along the Boomkroonpad (Tree Crown Path) among the treetops, enjoy the observation tower and gnome trails at Poolshoogte, follow a Van Gogh walking route through the Drenthe countryside or walk a stage of the Pieterpad behind the campsite. Here you are surrounded by peace, adventure and nature.
Farm shops and pick-your-own gardens
What could be more enjoyable than exploring the area for charming local shops and pick-your-own gardens where they sell the most delicious regional products? We have listed a few gems for you.
(Swimming) lakes
Fancy a refreshing dip? In addition to the familiar Zandpol natural swimming pool, there are plenty of beautiful lakes in the area. From the tranquil Kibbelkoele to the blue Dankernsee just across the border and the Klinkenvlierseplas near Coevorden. Perfect for a summer's day.
Active outdoors
Fancy something active? In the Buitenland area, you can go horse riding, touring with EKO Tours, climbing among the treetops or out on the water with a stand-up paddleboard or water skis. Everything is close by, in the heart of Drenthe's countryside.
Indoor activities
Rain? No problem. There are plenty of fun indoor activities near Buitenland: from relaxing at the Anholts sauna to splashing around in Aqua Mundo, jumping at Urbanjump or catching a film at Kinepolis Emmen. Enough to keep you warm and cosy all day long.
